Yianni Stamas Finalizes the Result of the Name Change Exploration

The Fans Have Spoken

Yes, it’s been established. The Big Apple Awards is a subdivision of the Platinum PIAs Awards as is the USAcreate.com Awards. Staying with the Platinum PIAs moniker is something that was done in relation to the fans’ outcry against losing the name. And rumor has it that Bigfoot Zombie is going to be one of the judges of the next ceremony. We heard this from Artist Steps so if you want more information you’ll have to talk with them about it.

Making a Difference

Big Apple Awards, as a subdivision will be exploring education looking for educators who are making a difference not only in their classroom but are making a difference elsewhere as well.

Building a Community Organization

And you can get involved too. Volunteering to help organizations is greatly appreciated because it really is about building a community organization.

Teachers are Recognized

The Big Apple Stars Awards Program is a great opportunity for you to bring public recognition to the teachers you love. They can be anything from grammar school educators to those helping to shape the minds of the future via a college or university.

Celebrating Teachers of the Big Apple

Creativity, leadership and academic rigor were among the characteristics of the educators who have won Platinum PIAs in the past, which now has its Big Apple Awards division celebrating the teachers of the Big Apple (Manhattan, New York).

Nominate Teachers Who Have Made a Difference in Your Life

It’s up to you, the student, to nominate educators who have made a difference in your life. If we think back all of us have likely had a teacher who made a difference in our lives. This includes the impact of learning something, respecting the approach and much more. Did you have a teacher who made a difference in your life?

Make a Difference with Your Input

Other categories of the Platinum PIAs include artists themselves making a difference. In many ways the Platinum PIAs Awards could be called the ArtistPreneur Awards because many of the performing, film and fine arts winners are AristicPreneurs. And as always, YOU can make a difference with your input.

Artists Find Your Communities

Finding Winners

The Big Apple Awards has always been about rewarding ArtisticPreneurs who make an impact on others – giving of themselves. This is a hard quality to find and in our prior incarnation as the Platinum PIAs, we often sifted through literally hundreds of folks to find the true winners.

Not Just New York

But when we would find someone we would make certain to nominate them and hopefully, if they resided in New York, become a part of the awards ceremony. But the Big Apple Awards are not just about Manhattan, NYC. They are also for anyone making a difference from any part of the country who is making a difference with a community.

Finding Nominees is More Difficult than You Think

Much has changed since we began in 2010, and now for the most part the awards ceremony is online. Thankfully, being online has its own type of community and we don’t mean chat rooms but rather creative people who network with each and support each other. In fact this is how we have sometimes gotten nominees: someone in our network would know someone who should be nominated. These are often the ArtisticPreneurs who have been smart enough to take the right steps to where they are going.

Some of the Qualities We Look For

Creativity, leadership and success oriented rigor are very important qualities of those who get nominated. People who are driven to make a difference are very different than those who aren’t. We have had to develop our own sixth sense when it comes to finding true pioneers and community oriented creatives.

To Promote or Not to Promote

It’s a wonderful thing to let someone know they have been nominated. And then the suspense builds regarding whether or not that person is actually going to win and receive their formerly PIA and now – Apple. Sometimes it is those who deserve the most to win don’t necessarily promote themselves.

One of the key reasons we formed in the first place was to show appreciation for talented ArtisticPreneurs who built communities. All our winners have been very motivated with or without appreciation. But the appreciation shown by presenting winners with a trophy, will hopefully let them know that their work is making a difference. The desire is that they will take the appreciation “in” and be even more motivated to help. Do-gooders need recognition too!

Our Goal

Recognizing outstanding work in the community realm is what we aim for, even now that we are more “virtually” oriented. Every day we take a new step forward.

Is a Name Change Necessary?

One of the groups that is fighting to change the name of the Platinum PIAs to Big Apple Awards is an organization for passionate older persons.

A 10 Year Old with Influence

We’ve got the website ready here at the team central of those who want to change the name of the Platinum PIAs to the Big Apple Awards, but a 10 year old may have thrown a wrench into the name change agenda.

A Vote for Not Changing the Name

It seems that the PIAs founder (who is also known for founding ArtisticPreneur) is being influenced by his 10 year old daughter who loves the Platinum PIAs and doesn’t understand why he would change the name.

Seeking Help

So it was pretty clear to us that we weren’t going to have much luck talking with the founder/father so we decided to call on our old buddies at ArtisticPreneur.com and at ArtistSteps.org.

Long Term Relationships

Our relationship with ArtisticPreneur has always been good. And we knew that they had a lot of influence with the founder. Because we’re a newer entity we don’t have a background of communication with him. But we do with ArtisticPreneur before they were even ArtisticPreneur. And the folks from ArtistiSteps.org we know too. Have known them for quite a while.

We just got off the phone with both ArtisticPreneur and ArtistSteps and were told by both that indeed there is momentum toward maybe keeping the name as the Platinum PIAs because of “branding recognition.” With all due respect, we have worked on engineering the Big Apples Awards’ visibility.

Will this Website Survive?

We have taken a lot of time and effort and put it toward making the phrase “Big Apple Awards” heard all over the internet. But hey, it looks like we’re going back to the original name. But what then happens to this website? It stays if Artist Steps have anything to do with it.

Please Give us Your Feedback

Do we take this website down? Or do we keep it up and maybe start our own Big Apple Awards that is separate from the Platinum PIAs? We’d love your input. Please let us know what you think.

Stewing in the Aftermath of a Change in Plans

There’s Only One Emotion that Captures What We’re Feeling

We are furious. The Platinum PIAs promised us that we, the BigAppleAwards.com, would be the new name of the Platinum PIAs Awards, now in its 10th year (as of this writing). But no, the PIAs management has decided that since it is transitioning to work for USAcreate.com’s Blogger Coalition department, loyalties are with USAcreate.com. Somehow the Artist Steps organization that does career steps for creatives, has been elected as the go between. Artist Steps got this role because they are sometimes involved with the Blogger Coalition, an “unbiased” company.

We are Developing Our Own Blogger Coalition

If becoming blog management is what the PIAs are after, we can offer that too. We have been working on extending our brand into communal websites. So if PIAs wants to be a part of the “Blogger Revolution” they can come to us and we’ll facilitate it.

We’ve Got the Rad Website

Additionally, BigAppleAwards.com has an actual website whereas USAcreate.com only has a single page on their site dedicated to what they hope will be their new awards show division.

We Have the Better Alliances

Look, the “Big Apple Awards,” even though we haven’t been around since 2010, already have a lot of positive press about that combines marketing with education which is something USAcreate.com is simply not interested in participating in.

The Choice is Obvious

Marketing and education are the keystones of the current Platinum PIAs direction as is the case of the Big Apple Awards, so it truly is a no brainer.

Education Comes First with Us

But hey, it really all comes down to what you – the small businesses, artistists of any kind and fans – desire. What do the American People want as their online awards show – Big Apple Awards or USAcreate.com Awards? We think that YOU the American People should decide and not some random organization (Artist Steps) Do you want an organization like USAcreate.com that is focused on author omitted eBooks, 10 day email courses and the like, or would you be more drawn to us with our focus on actually ACKNOWLEDGING educators!?

The Passing of the Torch

This is just a quick post to acknowledge that we of the Big Apple Awards are honored to have been passed the torch by the Platinum PIAs such that we now carry that torch to light our way toward a new name and purpose, celebrating those of you here in America who utilize your marketing to make a difference. The idea being that you are spreading a positive message!
